Question about purchasng a second stroller?

My daughter is 8 1/2 months old, and we have the Chicco Cortina travel system. I love it and haven't thought about purchasing another stroller. However, tomorrow we are going to a cottage for a week, and I was thinking how convenient it would be to have a lighter umbrella stroller instead of the bigger bulkier one.

I was wondering if it would really be worth purchasing a second stroller? How many strollers do you own for your child? When do you use the bigger stroller vs. a smaller, lighter umbrella stroller?

When I nannied they had 6 strollers. The most expensive was a $600 double jogging stroller. The one I used the most by far was the $8 one from Walmart.

When you are using the stroller mostly to get from point a to point b, you will want the umbrella stroller. IF you won't be using the stroller the whole time (cause child wants to walk some) you will want the umbrella stroller. The one I nannied liked to push his stuffed Mickey Mouse in the stroller, then when he got tired of walking, he would sit and hold Mickey and I would push.

Get the absolute cheapest umbrella stroller you can. It will also be the lightest, and smallest. You'll use it alot!

I have 3 double strollers so far for my twins. A duoglide for long walks starting at the house, the snap and go for when we are traveling / running errands (but at 4 months already they are getting too tall for it!) and an umbrella stroller which will soon replace the snap and go.

I will also get a jogging stroller at some point

I get strollers used, so they are very cheap. Check craig's list.

But for a single umbrella stroller, just go to Walmart with $10.

You will be tempted to get a "fancier" umbrella stroller, with a thing to hold drinks etc. Don't get it. You will most use a no frills one, because it really is almost like carrying an umbrella around when it is folded up. So you won't mind carrying it around as a "just in case" in your car or when your child is walking but might get tired feet. Also you can take it upstairs easily etc. and it can be a toy for your child's stuffed animals and dolls.
