Convertible car seat question? Britax?
Okay so I was planning on ordering my daughter a Britax Roundabout 50 car seat today from target. Well I got on Britax's website and it says they are coming out with a new line that are supposed to be safer but not until mid August. We are planning a trip next weekend and I would like to go ahead and have her new car seat since she has grown out of her old one and it would make me feel better about the trip.
So I guess what I'm saying is should I go ahead and order her the Britax Roundabout 55 today so she can start using it asap or wait and her not have a new one for a month and not have it on the trip?
Also it only RF to 35 pounds which I was concered about, but I dont know of any other car seat that is as safe and that will fit in my small car.
Britax is actually going to increase the sitting weights. 40lbs rear-facing, and 70lbs forward facing. That's about the only real improvement that I know of with these. My local Target is actually putting the old Britaxs on sale to get rid of them for the new ones coming out, meaning that the old Britax Roundabout was under $100, and the Boulevard was $170.
My car is pretty small, but we have a Britax in one and a Graco My-Ride in the other. It's cramped, but they do fit. Since it's only a month, and you'd get more use out of the newer Britax, I'd honestly wait (plus you'd be guaranteed it's a fresh one with a longer-due-date so to speak, so it would last you longer that way too.) How outgrown is she? Is she still in the safe weight ranges? If she's completely outgrown it, as in it would be dangerous for her to ride in it, then get the replacement. Otherwise, I think I'd wait.
